Lawn Bowling

Lawn Bowling

Lawn Bowling or more properly, Lawn Bowls,  is a game played on a large smooth grass surface called a “green”. Physical strength plays a small part in the game; skill and strategy are the real factors.

The object is to roll your bowls closer to the target than your opponents. The target is a small white ball called a “jack”. However, Bowls travel along a curved path, not a straight one. Players have to gauge the possible curve to get close to the jack or take out opponent bowls.

There is a full program of activity from May to October.  We  have an Open House in the Spring where you can also come and visit us.

We have scheduled play times and members may practice or organize a game during free times that are not otherwise officially booked. We also have many fun days and tournaments throughout the season. In addition, if you are interested you can tour the numerous clubs in the district for some good team competition.

Social Lawn Bowls Schedule
Saturday 10:00 AM
Tuesday 7:15 PM
Thursday – Welcome Night 7:15 PM

Members are not obligated to come on every scheduled day, as there are no set teams. A random draw is made according to how many people show up. Saturday is great fun – we usually have a good number of people out to bowl.

Visitors are always welcome so if you do not know a member to introduce you, stop by on  our scheduled welcome evenings or just stop by on a play day. Our friendly coaches will teach you how to bowl and explain the rules. All you need to start are flat smooth-soled shoes (no heels) to protect the turf.

Whether you are looking for new friends, light exercise, social or competitive bowling, lawn bowling offers it all.

Join us and give it a try.
