 Club History –About us 

The Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling Club, founded in 1912, expanded to include croquet in 2000 and was renamed the Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club. The club pays the city an annual permit fee for use of the grounds, and then operates as a private club with an annually elected Board of volunteer members.

Club Membership includes:

  • Use of lockers
  • Personalized name tags
  • Croquet – use of club mallets (first year included in membership, additional $20.00 for subsequent years)
  • Lawn Bowling – Use of bowls (first year included in membership, additional $20.00 for subsequent years)
  • 3rd Party Liability insurance coverage is included through membership dues paid to Croquet Canada and/or Ontario Lawn Bowling Association (OLBA)
  • Receipt of club newsletters

Emergency Contact  – It is highly recommended that you provided emergency contact information. You can fill in this information in your profile on the Club website.

Volunteering – The club is run solely by volunteers.  Getting involved is the best way to get to know the club, your fellow members and to gain the most from your experience.  Here are some of the ways you can help

  • Assisting on the Spring and Fall club clean-up/set up days
  • Volunteering at club rental events
  • Setting up and putting away equipment after play
  • Gardening and flower maintenance
  • Assisting on the Social Committee, i.e. helping with club social events
  • Joining a committee or the club executive board

Playing Season and Regular Hours – Lawn Bowling and Croquet – the season starts in mid May and finishes the end of October, weather permitting.

Members are also welcome to arrange games or practice at other times. Check the Club calendar on the website for times when the greens are not available due to rentals or private functions.

Club Regulations

 Signing in

Signing in is required to meet the OLBA/Croquet Canada insurance provider’s requirements.

All members are required to sign the daily register binder upon arrival.

All guests are also required to sign in to the Club in the member’s sign in binder which is located on a table to the left of the door to the club house. By doing so they acknowledge the terms of the waiver. A copy of the waiver is in the binder for them to read.

Dress code – Smooth soled shoes only are allowed on the greens. It is not a requirement that members wear white; however, if you play in tournaments at other clubs it may be required.

Guest policy – members are welcome to bring guests to enjoy a game of lawn bowls or croquet. Please see Policy (Link Below)

Club Access – There is a combination lock on the Parking lot gate. There is one master key for all clubhouse doors – washrooms, main door and croquet equipment shed. This can be accessed from the lockbox on the main door.  The codes for the gate lock and the lockbox are available on the Club website under the Member’s area.

A key for the lawn bowling equipment shed is hanging on a wall hook in the clubhouse office.

Security – if you are the last person to leave the Club, please ensure

  • Field lights are turned off – switch located in men’s locker room.
  • All clubhouse Interior lights are off. The light over the veranda area is a security light and goes on and off automatically.
  • All clubhouse doors, including the door to the Croquet equipment room (West side of Club house) are locked.
  • Lawn bowling equipment sheds are locked.
  • The parking lot gate and the gate between the greens opening on to the roadway are locked.

Club Website and Member Communication – a regular newsletter is sent out detailing upcoming activities, special events, socials, etc. Because the Club uses Mail Chimp to send out the newsletter, please check your spam and/or bulk mail folders if you are not receiving it.
